Befitting tributes paid to "Iron Man of India'

Along with rest of the country, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was observed across the state on Monday.
National Unity Day is observed on October 31 every year in honour of Sardar Patel, who played an important role in the unification of India after independence in 1947, and to reinforce the dedication of the people to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation by re-enforcing the value of a strong and united India.
In Thoubal, a unity run was held and human chain formed as apart of the commemorative event, participated by DC, SP, district level officers, NYK volunteers and school students.
Floral tributes were also paid to Sardar Patel led by DC Subhash Singh at DC office Complex.
PHERZAWL: National Unity Day was observed in Pherzawl district with a Unity Run organised in schools under ZEO Pherzawl.
On the occasion, ZEO Hemchand Yumnam said that a total of 16 schools and about 850 students from different parts of the district participated in the Unity Run.
CHURACHANDPUR: District administration of Churachandpur observed Rastriya Ekta Diwas at its Mini-Secretariat Campus on Monday.
Several unity runs in different colleges and schools of Churachandpur, taking of pledge to dedicate oneself to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread the same message and formation of human chain to demonstrate spirit of 'Unity in Diversity' among the people marked the observance.
As part of the programme, DC Sharath Chandra Arroju, DLOs, students and other participants paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Patel, the unifier of Modern India at Mini-Secretariat premises.
BISHNUPUR: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was observed across Bishnupur district with DC Lourembam Bikram leading the gathering in paying floral tributes to portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the conference Hall of Mini Secretariat complex.
The DC also administered Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the participants comprising of DLOs and staff of district administration.
As part of the observance, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bishnupur in collaboration with CEO, Zilla Parishad and BDO/EOs of Municipal Councils also organised 40 Unity Runs in different villages of the district.
Moreover, the ZEO also organised 60 Unity Runs in schools and principals of different colleges also organised its own Unity Run to mark the observance.
KANGPOKPI: DC Kengoo Zuringla, officers and staff of Kangpokpi district paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of National Unity Day at DC Office Complex on Monday.
The 147th birth anniversary of Iron Man of India was also held at government offices and schools located within the district.
On the other hand, the Transport Department organised 'Run for Unity' to celebrate the birth anniversaiy of India's first Home Minister.
The National Unity Day provides an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation towards upholding the unity, integrity and security of our country.
UKHRUL: Ukhrul district administration on Monday organised a Unity Run to commemorate National Unity Day during which floral tribute was also paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, Ukhrul deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar informed that the event was organised to remember the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel who played a pivotal role in the political integration of India and added that the legacy of our forefathers needs to be preserved.
He further informed that the nation building process is still going on where each and every citizen has a part to play in different important areas like social, legal, health and connectivity infrastructures, which is for the benefits of the future.
The Unity Run' which started from the DC office complex, Hamleikhong till Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Bazar and back was organised as part of the 75,000 Unity Runs held across the country.
The participants also took a pledge as a reminder of the nation's unity, integrity, and security, as well as to work hard to spread the message envisioned by the late leader.
The event was held in collaboration with ZEO and DY-ASO, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and Model High School.
Students and all the DLOs and their staff took part in the event.
