Assam Rifles, BSF observe National Unity Day

Central forces deployed and operating in the state observed National Unity on Monday at their units/locations by conducting awareness programmes, cleanliness drive and run for unity programmes.
IGAR (South) observed the National Unity Day and conducted unity pledge, bike rally and run for unity for the troops, children and families of Assam Rifles to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as Iron Man of India at Mantripukhri Garrison on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the events were conducted in presence of Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen PC Nair and IGAR (S) Maj Gen Rajan Sharawat.
The events were witnessed by enthusiastic participation of 500 children, families and troops.
It may be mentioned that Val-labhbhai Patel not only contributed immensely in independence struggle but also played a major rple in unification of our nation.
Meanwhile, 10 Sector Assam Rifles and its units observed National Unity Day along with organising unity run, bike rally and oath ceremony at Somsai, Shangshak and Chassad battalions.
28 Sector AR also organised unity run, bike rally, march past, medical camp and oath ceremony at Kakching, Sajik Tampak, Joupi, Phundrei and Sehlon battalions as part of the observance.
On the other hand, Khuga, Churachandpur and Loktak battalions of IGAR (South) organised unity run and pledge ceremonies as part of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on Monday.
Border Security Force (BSF) under the aegis of SHQ BSF CI (Ops) Manipur, observed National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's first Home Minister and deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was also known as the 'Iron Man of India' .
On the occasion, a cleanliness drive was carried out at BSF Koirengei Campus and a cycle rally was flagged off by SHQ CI (Ops) Manipur DIG Dinesh Singh Rawat and participated by 29 Bn commandant Sonam Chhering and troops of SHQ BSF and 29 Bn BSF.
A "Run for Unity" programme was also organised in the presence of Dinesh Singh Rawat, officers of SHQ BSF and 29 Bn BSF, troops of BSF, teachers and students of Carmel Jyoti (Orphanage Home), Divine School, Luwangsangbam, ex servicemen and BSF family members.
A "Chain of Unity" programme was also organised at BSF Campus, Koirengei.
Maram Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles also observed National Unity Day at its battalion headquarters on Monday in Senapati district and across all company locations.
On the occasion, the battalion conducted a 'Unity Run' for local people and school children followed by pledge taking ceremony for the school children and the locals.
A unity chain was formed with the children to display the spirit of unity and oneness.
