Governor, CM, others greet on Chavang Kut

Governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren, ministers, religious organisations and civil bodies have extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion Chavang Kut, which falls on November 1.In his message, Governor La Ganesan said that Kut is considered the biggest festival among the Kuki-Chin-Mizo ethnic groups and it is celebrated as a post-harvest festival for thanksgiving and gratitude to the Almighty for bountiful harvest.
The festival also symbolizes peace, harmony and unity rising above the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
More and more people belonging to different communities also join the celebration every year spreading the message of oneness, he said.
"Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the state", the Governor wished.
Sharing his observation, chief minister N Biren said that Kut marks the end of the harvesting season and is celebrated to offer thanksgiving to the Almighty for a bountiful harvest.
It is a festival where the young and old, men and women all join in traditional dances, songs and festivities, he added.
"The spirit of Chavang Kut is about sharing, expressing gratitude and promoting harmonious co-existence.
Let more and more people from all communities join and help in spreading the message of unity and peace", the CM said.
Meanwhile, ministers Yumnam Khemchand, Nemcha Kipgen, Awangbow Newmai and Th Basanta Kumar Singh, Hili 'Areas Committee (MAC) chairman Dinganglung Gangmei, All Manipur Christian Organisation president reverend L Simon Raomai and Manipur Hill Journalists' Union president Peter Adani conveyed in their messages expressed elation that people belonging to different communities also join in the celebration of Kut Festival and spread the message of oneness.
They also wished that the festival bless the people of Manipur with prosperity.
