United Committee Manipur (UCM), continued its charitable work to help those affected by COVID-19 lockdown by distributing rice, potatoes, dal, salt and other items to students and other living on rented accommodations at Tarung Grace Colony.
In a statement, UCM urged all to follow advisories issued by the Government and help one another in this trying time.
UCM also appealed the State Government to enhance the home delivery of essential commodities as movement has been restricted with the imposition of the lockdown besides requesting to provide an adequate amount of rice to all.
UCM also requested to give priorities to people hit worst by the lockdown as well as those who cannot be covered by the DCs and MLAs concerned.
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has also distributed rice to 201 tenants residing at Naoremthong Laishram Leirak, Khulem Leikai with the assistance of Laishram Khullem Leikai Development Club.
With today's campaign, AMUCO has reached out more than 6,000 people, said a statement issued by the organisation.
Packaged food offered
A Punyabanta Sharma, president of BJP Imphal Central district has doled out packaged foods, hand sanitizers and face masks to the Police personnel and other frontline warriors under the aegis of Yaiskul Assembly Constituency MLA, Thokchom Satyabrata.
Sangai Security Service, has also handed out grocery items, hand sanitizers, face maks etc.
to the daily wage earners and security personnel working under the organisation as relief measures on account of the lockdown due to COVID-19.Meanwhile, around 300 households under Patsoi Part I were provided edibles by Wahengbam Lily Devi, Member Patsoi Part 1, Ward no 1.She also appealed all to remain at home to break the transmission chain of COVID-19 in the State.
Lunch packs were also handed out to Police personnel, firemen, staff of CHC and Excise Department posted at Yairipok and Nongpok Sekmai by a team of Bishnunaha Youth Federation Yairipok (BYFY).
The team also offered the same to those serving at chemist shops under the mentioned areas.
KRSU distributes relief materials
Komrem Students' Union - General headquarters (KRSU-GHQs) distributed relief materials to the needy and unprivileged households of Ngakhapat and Lairok Kom Village, Kangpokpi district today.
About three kilograms of rice were benefited by each household of the said villages.
ZEO Jiribam employee lends helping hands
Doing her bit to help those affected by COVID-19 lockdown, Razia Sultana (Sanatombi), an employee of Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Jiribam has distributed household items which include- mustard oil, potatoes, onion and detergent powder to 185 households of Islamabad, 77 at Patchao, 15 at Champanagar Meitei and 8 Jamaatis.
Razia carried out the noble work by spending her one month salary, reports our correspondent.
Rice distributed at Nungba
10 kg of rice was distributed to all households in different villages under the Nungba Assembly Constituency on account of the lockdown.
The rice was procured using MLA Local Area Development Fund of former Deputy CM, Gaikhangam.
The distribution work was assisted by village authorities and volunteers while maintaining social distancing and other safety norms.
Edibles, PMGKAY rice distributed on eve of Ramadan
On account of the festival of Ramadan and as a continuation of relief work in wake of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA, Yengkhom Surchandra and Adhyaksha of Kakching Zilla Parishad, Md Nazimuddin have distributed edibles and PMGKAY rice to the Muslim residents of Sora.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA acknowledged that most of the residents in Sora belong to economically weaker section and thus he distributed the relief items with the assistance of Kakching ZP Adhyaksha.
While maintaining that distribution of rice under NFSA and edibles have been carried out to help people during the lockdown, Surchandra said that rice under PKGKAY and additional rice brought using Local Area Development Fund, will be distributed to all residents above 5 years within Kakching AC.
He also appealed all to come out and assist fellow men during such a hard time while promising that more assistance will be extended in case the lockdown is extended further.
Meanwhile, Chumnang Leikai Achouba Shinglup has also extended edibles to its member to mitigate the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Bpr COVID-19 Relief Committee handed out edibles to Police personnel, journalists
COVID-19 Relief Committee Bishnupur Kendra, has doled out edibles to encourage the Police personnel and journalists working with different firms, who are working at the frontline to fight against COVID-19.Advisor of the committee, N Sanajaoba and convenors Th Yaima and S Jiban led the team in handing out vegetables and other edibles to the journalists and SP Bishnupur.
Meanwhile, NSS volunteers of Kumbi College led by Biken Ningthoujam, general secretary of Kumbi College Students' Union also extended relief materials to 150 deprived families in Kumbi AC.
Distribution of rice under PMGKAY and OMSS, also continued at Saiton Gram Panchayat under the supervision of Kumbi AC MLA S Bira and Pradhan of the Saiton Gram Panchayat, M Ibomcha today.
The day also saw Brajabaimayum Inaoba Sharma from Thana Leikai under Moirang AC help 50 most deprived households within his locality with edibles.
District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority also doled out edibles and soaps to Shanti Ashram Old Age Home in Kumbi, Swadesh Ghar and Observation Home for Boys.
