Rich tributes paid to martyrs

Remembering the people who fought valiantly in the Anglo-Manipuri War in 1891, the Khongjom Day was commemorated at Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Khebaching today.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh led a small group of delegates in laying wreaths at the Khongjom War Memorial atop Khebaching and also at the statue of Paona Brajabashi located at the foothill later.
The dignitaries also offered Tarpan at Khongjom River as done in preceding years.
The observation was attended by Minister (TAH & Fishery) N Kayisii, Minister (CAF & PD) Karam Shyam, Minister (Health & FW) L Jayantakumar, MLA P Brojen, MLA Y Surchandra, ex-MLA M Hemanta, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, DGP LM Khaute, civil and police officials among others.
Unlike the previous years, the Thoubal District Administration ensured that there was no large gathering for the commemorative function and social distance was maintained among the small group of people who attended the function in view of the COVID-19 epidemic.
