Imphal, May 25 2023:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) chief advisor Yambem Laba has enquired if state's security advisor Kuldiep Singh is leading the administration of the state or the chief minister N Biren.
Addressing a press meet at the office of KKL here on Thursday, Yambem Laba said that after 1992 the main com-munity involved in any com-munal violence is the Kukis.
He said that the Kuki immigrants are raising their Kuki Homeland demand in the state after their failed movement for a separate Kuki state in Myanmar.
He said that the real reason behind the present crisis is not ST demand by Meeteis but the government's crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation and the narco- terrorism agenda, proposed NRC update and set-ting up of population commis-sion.
The security forces have not only failed to control the armed Kuki militants but also to protect the civilians from their terror acts.
They have even failed to control two Kuki villages along NH 37 from in-terfering in movement of goods trucks, he said.
The present crisis could have been averted had the govern-ment prevented the May 3 rally, he opined and enquired if se-curity forces were advised not to engage when armed Kuki militants killed a Manipur po-lice commando and injured many others in Tronglaobi area.
He also demanded the reason for not making public number of Kuki militants, arms and ammunition found missing in designated camps of Kuki militants bound by Suspension of Operation (So0) agreement.
