Imphal, May 25 2023:
Reacting to the attack on Kom tribe village Kan-gathei by Kuki militants, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) said such vicious violence will only aggravate the situ-ation and must be put to stop forwith for the sake of humanity and peaceful co-existence.
According to statement of NSCN-IM, Kuki militants attacked Kangathei village and the Kom villagers were forced to vacate their homes, which indeed was a matter of regret.
Minor tribes like Aimol, Chiru, Chothe, Kharam, Koireng and Kom are part of Naga community and they have been actively involved in the Nagas' political strug-gle for their freedom from India and Myanmar 'till our goal is achieved', the outfit said and appealed to Meetei brothers and Kukis not to take them otherwise and harass them in any manner.
"Kindly consider this with a show of great sagacity and statesman's foresight," it said.
The statement further said the ongoing violence between the Meetei and the Kuki is something very detestable and attack against the place of human inhabitants (villages) is very inhuman.
It also said that burning down of worship (Churches) is considered as sacrilegious acts committed on religious lines.
The NSCN -IM said all these acts of violence are violation of human rights that are applicable to all members of human society.
