Imphal, May 25 2023:
Announcing its next course of movement in pur-suance of the demand for withdrawal of SoO, imple-mentation/update of NRC and protection of territo-rial integrity of Manipur, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (CO-COMI) appealed to the people to submit memorandum to their nearest SDO/SDC/DC offices on May 29 at 1pm.COCOMI also appealed people to take part in the democratic rally from their own localities till the nearest SDOISDCIDC offices.
While demanding that the Suspension of Opera-tion (SOO) agreement signed between Kuki militants with the governments of India and state must be withdrawn immediately, COCOMI said the present state govern-ment cannot be considered as people's government as it could not openly reject the demand for separate admin-istration made by 10 Kuki MLAs while the remaining 50 MLAs too failed to take a collective decision against the Kuki legislators.
According to a statement of COCOMI, the present situation in Manipur makes clearer that India never considers people of Mani-pur as their own citizens.
It also said that central forces being deployed to contain communal violence in the state not only remain as si-lent spectators when Kuki militants kill innocent people and burn houses in violation of So0 ground rules but are encouraging Kuki militants to continue with their hei-nous acts.
