RK Ranjan, others call on Governor

Imphal, May 25 2023: Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan this evening and the two deliberated on the current crisis prevailing the state.

He informed the Governor that he, along with MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze, had made a joint appeal on May 23 to the members of various communities of Manipur that the present crisis can be solved only through dialogue .

The Governor has said that the army and Assam Rifles in consultation with the State Government and all stakeholders have worked out fresh and elaborate security measures to address the fears of members of all communities, specially those staying in fringe and vulnerable areas outside Imphal.

Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi called on Anusuiya Uikey and updated the Governor with the latest developments with regard to the ongoing unrest in the State and the various measures put in place to contain the communal tension and restore normalcy in the State.

Assistant Secretary, Meitei Council, Moreh K Manju Meitei along with 5 others called on the Governor and submitted a memorandum today while apprising of the prevailing situation arising out of the recent violence in Moreh and urged the Governor to take decisive approach to tackle the escalating crisis.

Ashang Kasar, Convenor, Forum for Restoration of Peace along with nine others also called on the Governor today at the Raj Bhavan.

The team apprised the Governor about the condition of the victims of the ethnic violence and the difficulties faced by many of the displaced people.

The team also highlighted the need for bridging the gap of mistrust between the different communities which have been coexisting peacefully prior to May 3 and submitted a memorandum.

The Governor appealed to all to put their efforts to establish peace and harmony in the State.

Bijoy Koijam , president, Manipur National Democratic Front too visited Anusuiya Uikey highlighted the issue of demand for separate administration by the 10 Kuki MLAs and also the common people's apprehension over the integrity and unity of the State.

Bijoy Koijam and his team also submitted a memorandum.

The Governor appealed to all including various political parties and CSOs to set aside any differences and take resolution to establish peace and tranquillity in the State at the earliest.
