Probe mob attack on Army convoy: ATWU, ZSF

Drawing the attention of security advisor to the government of Manipur Kuldiep Singh in connection with an alleged incident on May 24 at Moirang, Churachandpur-based All Tribal Women Union (ATWU) demanded a thorough investigation into the case while the Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF) apprised the same matter to Union home minister Amit Shah and sought intervention and necessary action.
According to a written complaint sub-mitted to Kuldiep Singh by ATWU, an army convoy including air couriers departed from the BSF STC camp situated in Mualkawi, Lamka and moved towards Imphal on May 24.However, a mob intercepted the convoy at Moirang and called out the names of three tribals in the convoy and dragged them out.
Among the captives were two male officers from BSF and a female official from CISF.
Fortunately, all three of them were rescued and safely escorted back to Lamka, Chura - chandpur though they suffered injuries in the mob attack.
The convoy could not proceed further and returned to their base at BSF Training Centre.
The ATWU urged Kuldiep Singh to take up necessary action to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Regarding the same incident, ZSF urged Union home minister Amit Shah through a memorandum, for urgent intervention and guidance in conducting a thorough in-vestigation into the matter.
