Imphal, May 25 2023:
Five Congress MLAs will be heading for Delhi on Friday to meet the President and seek her intervention over the present turmoil gripping the state even as former chief minister 0 Ibobi Singh expressed discontentment over silence of the union govern-ment on the matter and expressed suspicion of a hidden agenda of the union government.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Thurs-day, 0 Ibobi alleged that neither the state nor the central govern-ment has taken up any measures to contain violence in the state.
Since no importance is accorded to the opposition parties in the state, a five member team will visit Delhi on Friday to meet AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and President of India Droupadi Murmu and urge them to take up necessary mea-sures to save Manipur.

Ibobi further pointed out that as violence continues in the state it is the bounden duty of the present government to protect the life and property of its people.
Moreover, it is regretful that PM Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah are remaining silent and watching the entire episode.
This could mean that there is some hidden agenda behind, he said.
The CLP leader further stated that even after additional central security forces have been rushed into the state as the government's request, it is still not able to con-trol the violence.
He further pointed out the need for proper coordination among top officials of state and the security advisor and also for the former to share necessary advice and feedback to the latter for better coordination between the state and central forces.
The government also needs to under-stand that the displaced people cannot be kept in relief camp for long.
Though late, the central government should intervene now and bridge the gap between the two communities and bring about an amicable solution, he suggested.
Maintaining that the Congress would nev-er compromise on the territorial integrity and that the party members would sacrifice their lives for the sake of the state's integrity, 0 Ibobi said that the BJP government should rule the people with utmost care and love.
Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit, who was also present during the press briefing, said that the ethnic violence could have been averted had the chief minister taken up enough measures right from the April 27 incident wherein miscreants set fire to the open gym in Churachandpur which was to be inaugurated by the CM the next day.
He also expressed discontentment over the matter where union home minister Amit Shah visited Assam on Thursday for a simple function but failed to turn up in Manipur.
MLA Th Lokeshwar also gave a deadline of 24 hours for the government to clarify as to why it has not given the approval to the security forces to arrest So0 Kuki militants who are roaming freely with guns.
MPCC president and MLA K Meghachan-dra, and MLA Surajkumar Okram were also present during the press conference.
