Imphal, December 16 2022:
Continuing to exert pressure on the government for abrogating the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement signed with the Kuki armed groups, People Alliance for Peace & Progress Manipur along with Iroisemba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Iroisemba Youth Development Club jointly staged a sit-in protest at Iroisemba on Friday.
The protestors held placards inscribed 'Deport foreigner KNA leader PS Haokip', 'Identify and deport foreigners' and 'No to peace talks with foreigner' among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Development Club president Irom Phulendro reasoned that the sit-in protest is being organised to support the movement launched by the Alliance for withdrawing the SoO pact signed by the government with the Kuki militants.
It is crystal clear that leaders of Kuki militant groups like KNO/KNA and ZRA/ZRA are all from Myanmar.
He insisted that as Myanmarese people are being illegally brought into the state for permanent settlement, the government should identify and deport them as there is no logic in continuing peace talks with outsiders.
