Imphal, December 16 2022:
Tuyang Village Authority has contended that the Tuyang Primary School under Education Department in Chandel district has not been getting any funds for the Midday Meal scheme since January, 2020, despite approaching authorities concerned several times.
In a release, Tuyang village chief Limkhojam Haokip lamented that even though Tuyang village under Khangbarol TD Block in Khengjoy sub-division of Chandel district is mainly inhabited by economically weaker section of the society, authorities concerned are withholding release of funds for construction of a kitchen shed of Tuyang Primary School for Midday Meal scheme since January, 2020, the chief added.
Informing that ZEO Chandel Mohinir Kumar and AI Lh Moses had handed over Rs 50,000 and another sum of Rs 15,000, for construction of the kitchen shed, Haokip contended that when he approached the authorities to release the remaining amount he was told that there is no further fund sanctioned by the state government and claimed that the amount of Rs 15,000 given earlier was from their own pocket, not from the State fund.
Limkhojam Haokip appealed the Chief Minister, Education minister and the authorities concerned to look into the matter so that the pending funds for Midday Meal and for construction of the Kitchen Shed are released at the earliest.
