Minister Ranjan commends role of writers

Health & IPR minister Dr S Ranjan Singh has said that there is a need to follow the wisdom and ideas of our forefathers by the present generation.
Their ideologies and philosophies need to be protected, he said in his speech as chief guest during release of a book titled 'Punshi Mahing'.
The book is compendium of poems written by Laishram Bihari Singh of Yurembam Awang Leikai.
Stating that the present generation needs to protect and preserve our culture and identity for future, the minister also stressed that though issues and challenges are everywhere, each generation should plan for the future.
"We should not fall victim to drugs, which is already a social menace," he cautioned.
Dr Ranjan asserted that books of any kind are medium of information that play significant role for social reformation.
They also serve as records for our future, which is why the role of the writers in any social condition is commendable, the minister maintained and called upon all sections of the society to encourage the writers do their job.
The function was organised by Local Organisation of Voluntary Entrepreneurs (LOVE) at Rose Garden with Padmashree awardee L Nabakishore and Pravabati College assistant professor Dr Maya Nepram as president and guest of honour respectively.
