Imphal, December 16 2022:
JNIMS authority has clarified on the controversy surrounding alleged supply of sub-standard dental chairs to Dental College, stating that the bills for the chairs were cleared in two phases after submission of the required functionality test reports.
In this regard, JNIMS authority said that the dental chairs were purchased as per the specifications laid down by the College principal through Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement and High Tender Committee.
Astik Dent Traders won the tender and delivered 70 dental chairs, some of which were missing accessories.
As such, the Committee responsible for purchasing the chairs took note of the matter and submitted a functionality report along with the college authority.
Although the report was submitted, only 50 per cent of the total amount was disbursed in 2020 because of the missing accessories.
On March 21, 2021, the agency delivered all the missing accessories and the same was received by the college authority on March 23.The college authority submitted another functionality report, following which the remaining 50 per cent of the amount was cleared.
Mention may be made here that a meeting convened by the Dental College Development Committed, Dental College JNIMS on September 14, 2021 took note of the dental chairs, following which a report was submitted by 4 doctors including the Committee chairman over the missing accessories.
However, the college authority submitted a counter report stating that there was nothing wrong with the dental chairs.
