Manipur logs 98 new Covid cases

Imphal, July 29 2022:
Manipur recorded the single day highest hike in Covid cases during the month of July this year so far with 98 samples returning positive results in the last 24 hours.
The State witnessed no death in the same period of time and the 98 cases were confirmed while testing a total of 724 samples to return a daily positivity rate of 13.5 percent.
With the addition of 98 new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases has gone up to 1,38,984 including 5017 Central security personnel.
The 98 cases were detected while testing samples at RIMS (14), JNIMS (2) and other testing centres (82).The second highest single day surge was recorded on July 16 when Manipur returned figures of 94 new Covid cases.
The 98 new cases, all drawn from amongst the general population, are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (41), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (2), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (2), Churachandpur (9) and Chandel (3) .
The number of active cases is 615 inclusive of 3 Central security personnel.
As no deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number of deceased persons remain unchanged at 2129.Altogether 73 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (57), RIMS (4), JNIMS (8) and SHRI (4) .
The number of recovered cases is 1,36,240 including 5007 Central security personnel and the recovery rate stands at 98.03 percent.
On July 28, 6966 doses were administered to take the cumulative number of doses administered to 30,96,213 including 12,85,097 second dose and 1,98,509 precautionary dose.
Overall 53.93 percent of the eligible have received their second dose while 62.19 percent have received the first dose.
A total of 106 D Type oxygen cylinders and 12 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State in the last 24 hours.
At RIMS out of 62 Covid beds, 38 are currently occupied with 24 are vacant while at JNIMS out of 38 beds, 22 are occupied while 16 are vacant.
The State has appealed the public to observe Covid appropriate behavior.
