Empowerment of adolescent stressed to fight Hepatitis

To achieve the elimination of viral Hepatitis within evolving health systems, Durex-led 'The Birds and Bees Talk' (TBBT), a purpose driven initiative supported by Reckitt and Plan India, hosted dedicated workshops for community, students, and teachers in the six states of Northeast -Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Mizoram to mark World Hepatitis Day.
As per a release, the workshops addressed the lack of awareness on the disease and highlighted the need to bring Hepatitis care closer to the communities in six NE states including Manipur.
The workshops had the participation of bureaucrats, public health professionals, influencers and artistes to raise awareness about the disease.
The World Hepatitis Day 2022 was observed in collaboration with Red Ribbon Clubs to strengthen the youth initiatives on health factors that have an impact on the state.
To create awareness on the viral Hepatitis and encourage preventive measures to curb the virus, emphasis was given on the five pillars of TBBT namely Awareness, Consent, Protection, Equity and Inclusion, it added.
The release mentioned that the workshops designed to enhance awareness and empower adolescent from vulnerable communities with right knowledge and preven tive measures about the disease, was attended by senior delegates including Arunachal Pradesh Secondary Education joint director Tanyang Tatak; Department of Education, Mizoram di rector Dr H Lalthlangliana; CMO Churachandpur Dr Jamthianlal Senior, Reckitt SOA director external affairs and partnerships Ravi Bhatnagar; Mizoram superintendent of school education A Vanlallungliana; Naga Hospital, Kohima nodal officer (National Viral Hepatitis Programme) Dr Imtisunep Jamir; Plan India executive director Mohammed Asif.
Speaking at the programme, CMO Dr Jamthianlal Senior informed that 'TBBT' is making efforts to prepare young children and increase awareness about Hepatitis.
The participants are very lucky and it's a pleasure to be a part of this important day, he said.
