Indefinite bandh temporarily called off

The All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union (AJRTDU) has temporarily called off the proposed indefinite bandh slated to commence from August 20 along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) .
It may be noted that the bandh was jointly called by All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union (AJRTDU), All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers Union, Khongsang Hills Drivers Union and Oinamlong Drivers' Union demanding immediate repair of the potholes along NH-37.The decision to call off the proposed indefinite bandh temporarily was announced by AJRTDU president M Tombabu Singh at Barak during an inspection drive along the highway.
At the site, the team found that National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) had begun repair work of the potholes.
In view of this development, the president temporarily called off the indefinite bandh till August 25 after receiving assurance from NHIDCL that the repair work would be completed by the assigned date.
L Maniton Singh, secretary, AJRTDU, executive members of AJRTDU and PG Ashing, secretary, Oinamlong Drivers Union were also present at the inspection visit, apart from media persons.
