Imphal, August 19 2022:
Agriculture Director N Gojendro has stated that the Government distributed subsidised urea to the farmers in Manipur in appropriate manner and will continue to do so in future.
Speaking to media persons at Sanjenthong today, the Agriculture Director said that the directorate distributed subsidised urea to the beneficiaries through different farmer's associations and District Agriculture Officers.
Saying that the directorate has started distributing urea through private dealers too, N Gojendro added that there is no shortage of fertilizers in the State.
He clarified that there were some problems in lifting urea due to unavoidable circumstances.
The Agriculture Directorate will not entertain any complaint or pressure given for personal gain as it.
will be a burden to them, he added.
To a query, the Agriculture Director said that 6,700 bags of urea were lifted for Lamsang Assembly Constituency recently but there might be some beneficiaries who haven't got the subsidised fertilizer.
Assistant Fertilizer Officer N Santakumar said that the statement given by Potsangbam Zilla Parishad Member L Bobby over the issue of fertilizer was rather unfortunate as the directorate had talked about the issue with the ZP Member himself.
Imphal West DAO S Kennedy, on the other hand, said that the Department has distributed 7,513 bags of fertilizers for 13 Assembly Constituencies in Imphal West.
Kennedy maintained that the above figure doesn't include the urea bags distributed to farmers through the respective MLAs and farmers' associations concerned.
The District Agriculture Officer appealed to all beneficiaries to bring all the necessary documents while coming to procure subsidised fertilizers so as to avoid any problem.
