Awareness on combating child trafficking held

Kamjong, August 19 2022:
A one-day awareness cum workshop on 'Combating Child Trafficking' was organised on Thursday at Thawai village community hall in Kamjong district by Kamjong district administration in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit, Kamjong.
Deputy commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter attended the programme as chief guest while SP P Manjit was guest of honour.
In his speech, Rangnamei Peter highlighted the need to combat such grave issue as child trafficking and abuse and appealed to all government machineries especially the police, NGOs and the public to cooperate and coordinate in preventing child trafficking.
SP Manjit also mentioned the need for all sections of the society to stay alert on such serious crimes and further assured of Police department's support and stated that it had been leaving no stones unturned while solving such cases.
As a part of the function, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Pabitra Thingbaijam delivered a lecture on the topic "Understanding Child Protection Systems' and FXB India Suraksha social worker Songamla Leikha spoke on "Child Trafficking & Sexual Abuses', while Juvenile Justice Board member Wungmakhok Zimik spoke on "Overview of Juvenile Justice Act" .
