Imphal, February 13, 2013:
A new office of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Manipur unit was opened today at Kangpokpi Bazar by its president and ex-MP Kim Gangte.
TMC Sadar Hills Committee and TMC Kangpokpi Block Committee were also re-constituted today and Kim Gangte announced office bearers of the two committees during the office inaugural function.
Although the gathering was not a big one, many well known figures of Sadar Hills area were present at the function.
Addressing the gathering, Kim Gangte asserted that both Congress and BJP have done nothing for the welfare of the people of Manipur.
She further called upon all the people to collectively ensure that neither BJP nor Congress candidates win the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Notably, Kim Gangte is fighting the Lok Sabha election in Outer Manipur P/C on TMC ticket and has already launched her election campaign.
She said that her life is dedicated to the mass and their welfare.
Dedication and self-sacrifice is the need of the hour if one is determined to bring a revolutionary change in governance.
Questioning what significant works have been done by the Congress party despite being in power for a long period both at the Centre and the State, the ex-MP asked if the Congress Government has succeeded in bringing any change to the livelihood of the impoverished mass.
Asserting that Congress leaders are notorious for wanton graft practices, Kim Gangte claimed that Congress party is slowly losing its popularity across the country because of nepotism and favouritism exercised by its leaders for the past many decades under the cloak of serving the public.
There is a palpable disconnect between Congress party and people at the grassroots level.
Turning her tirade against BJP, Kim Gangte said that BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during his public rally at Langjing did not speak a single word about the people's long standing demand to repeal AFSPA from Manipur.
This was a clear indication that BJP share little empathy with the plight and aspirations of Manipuri people.
There is no place for favouritism and nepotism in TMC and it is a friend of the mass, claimed Kim Gangte.
Communal politics is anathema to the party and it is committed to inclusive growth and equality of all citizens.
People of seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district included in Outer Manipur P/C have been electing MPs every five years in the collective interest of the State but it is questionable if those elected leaders have done anything worthwhile for the underprivileged people who are not allowed to contest the same election.
Kim Gangte went on to claim that TMC can protect the integrity of Manipur/India and bring about a radical change in governance.
Later Vumkhohen Misao was appointed president of TMC Sadar Hills Committee.
Hekai Kipgen was made general secretary and Lalminlen Singson was appointed chief organiser.
