Mortal remains of slain driver, handyman brought home

Imphal, February 13, 2013:
The dead bodies of the driver and the handyman of an Imphal-bound oil tanker bearing registration number MN-01/ 7127, who were killed by some unidentified persons at Khatkhatti in Assam on February 10, were brought home today.
The deceased driver has been identified as Sanjoy Thapa (32) from Nagaland, while the slain handyman as Ramesh Limbu (19), s/o Tiken Limbu of Pheidinga, Imphal West.
The dead body of the driver was left at his home in Nagaland while the mortal remains of the handyman were brought to Khuman Lampak Bus Terminus where he was paid befitting tribute by his fellow drivers and handymen.
Meanwhile, CAF& PD Minister M Okendro today handed over a sum of Rs.50,000 to the family members of the deceased handyman.
He strongly condemned the killing of driver and handyman who were engaged in public service for transportation of essential commodities to the State.
The Minister also informed that the Assam police have arrested one person accused in the killing of oil tanker driver Sanjay Thapa and handyman Ramesh Limbu.
Talking about the reported sudden fuel scarcity in the state, Minister Okendro assured that petrol pumps will resume normal sale of fuel in the next two or three days in the state, appealing the people to stop filling full tanks in panic.
The Minister said that the entire district Superintendents of Police have been instructed to look into the matter relating to the reported scarcity of fuel.
