Imphal, February 13, 2013:
Taking serious note over petrol pumps putting up fuel nil signboards in the backdrop of the proposed economic blockade of by ATSUM and Kuki State Demand Committee with effect from February 16, volunteers of Preservation and Protection Committee Manipur (PPCM) would be carrying out a inspect visit to check possible disparity in distribution of petroleum products in all the petrol pumps.
Announcing this during a press meet at its head office located at Wahengbam Leikai here, Elangbam Johnson, convenor of PPCM pointed out that people are lining up at petrol pumps to get petroleum products whenever some organisation threatened to call economic blockade and taking advantage of the situation owners shut down their petrol pumps and put up stock nil signboards so that they could siphon off the available fuel in blank market.
This is unacceptable to the public.
So, its volunteers would be keeping a tight vigil.
The government should also come up with necessary steps to solve the problem of artificial shortage of petroleum products in the State.
If any petrol pumps were found indulging in unethical practice during the inspection visit then they would be dealt seriously, he warned.
