Imphal, February 13, 2013:
Making an analogy with the Titanic, ex-MP and President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Kim Gangte has said that the Congress Party is sinking into the vast ocean of Indian politics under the captainship of corrupt and inefficient leaders.
She was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of an office of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress at Kangpokpi Bazar under Sadar Hills today.
Kim Gangte further said that lack of an able leadership and high level of corruption are some major factors for the downfall of Congress Party.
The Congress Governments have totally neglected the people at the grassroots level.
The remote areas of the State have been neglected totally with no signs of governance.
The governments both at the Centre and states are now stable with the enactment of Anti-Defection Law.
The Congress has been ruling for more than a decade, but the MPs from the State are just silent spectators in the Parliament.
There is no point of calling them as people's representatives, she averred.
Kim further maintained the people once elected her as an MP of Outer Manipur prior to the enactment of Anti-Defection Law.
She could serve as an MP only for 11 months as the Parliament was dissolved prematurely.
All her ambitions and longing to serve the people were shattered, she recalled.
She said that she would renew her political ambitions and serve the people of Manipur relentlessly like the President of Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee who even sacrifices her monthly salaries for the people.
The Trinamool Congress stands for the welfare and development of all people right from the grassroots level unlike other political parties which are accumulating wealth in the name of people, the ex-MP asserted.
