Imphal, February 13, 2013:
Manipur went down to Bihar by 20 runs in the first Inter-State T-20 U-25 Cricket Championship underway at Sovina Ground Dimapur today.
On winning the toss, the State team elected to take the field and this misfired as the Bihar batsmen were able to extract advantage from a wicket which had nothing much to offer to the bowlers.
With the pitch offering no help, the Manipur bowlers conceded runs and could not keep the Bihar batsmen under check.
With some quick running between the wickets and capitalising on an insipid attack, Bihar raced to 117 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
William led the charge for Manipur bagging four wickets but that came at a price as he conceded 20 precious runs in 4 overs.
Suraj chipped in 2 wickets but conceded 17 runs in four overs while Priyojit took one wicket at the cost of 16 runs in 3 overs.
Put in to bat, Manipur were never in the race except for Prafullomani who hit a swashbuckling 53 runs off only 49 balls while Priyojit chipped in with 9 runs off 24 balls and Narasing 7 runs.
