Dimapur/Imphal, February 13, 2013:
The proposed visit of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to Manipur is mired in uncertainty as just two days before Neiphiu Rio is set to travel to Tamenglong district of Manipur, the Ibobi Singh Government has said that it has not been informed about the visit of the Chief Minister of the neighbouring state.
On the other hand, Neiphiu Rio's media advisor Abu Metha told Newmai News Network that the Manipur Government has been informed about it.
"It is a required protocol and practiced norm that everytime a Chief Minister travels either within the state or outside the State information is given before hand to the related authority," stated Abu Metha, adding, "It is an official protocol to inform the authority concerned and we have done that." But while talking to the media tonight, Manipur Government spokesman M Okendro said the state government has not been informed about the visit of Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio to Manipur.
"However, the state government will provide necessary security measures accordingly for the Nagaland chief minister," added M Okendro who is also a senior cabinet minister in the Ibobi Singh government.
On coming Saturday, Neiphiu Rio will be coming to Tamenglong district headquarter to grace the Nagas' seed sowing festival Lui-Ngai-Ni.
Along with Neiphiu Rio, a good number of Nagaland ministers will also be participating in the cultural festivity gala.
Lui-Ngai-Ni is the state festival of Manipur and the state government will give the money for the festival as done to other state festivals, added M Okendro.
