IRB man suspended

Md Majibur, Havildar of 1st IRB, who has been accused of assaulting Aribam Chaoba Sharma of Imphal Free Press has reportedly been placed under suspension from service with effect from February 12, 2014 for which an order has been issued by the Commandant 1st IRB.
According to a statement issued today by Manipur Police Department PRO S Gautam Singh, Majibur's suspension is based on the report by a fact finding team set up to investigate the February 10 night incident of assaulting the scribe.
ADGP (Armed Police) is also said to have issued instructions to all the COs of MR/IR battalions to ensure that men on duty are polite but firm in dealing with members of the public.
Instances of high handedness on the part of police personnel involving use of more that minimum force required would be dealt with sternly, the PRO statement quoted the ADGP as saying in the communication to all units.
Supervisory officers have been tasked to ensure strict compliance to the instructions, added the statement.
