Imphal, February 13, 2013:
While appealing to the public to stop panic-buying of petrol and diesel, Spokesperson of State Government and CAF&PD Minister Moirangthem Okendro has said that normal supply of petroleum oil to the public would resume from tomorrow.
Talking to media persons this evening, Minister Okendro said that there is an apprehension for oil scarcity among the public as a result of the proposed economic blockade of All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) from February 16 .
He further said that the ATSUM has two factions.
The State Government had already held talks with one faction and since then there has been some agreement.
But, the other faction is imposing economic blockade along the national highways.
They have also been invited to hold talks with the Government tomorrow, Okendro noted.
CAF&PD Minister maintained that the oil pumps have already lifted their allocated petrol and diesel this evening and they would resume normal supply to the public from tomorrow.
He also stated that there is enough stock of petrol and diesel for the State at Chingmeirong depot.
He would find out the reasons for closure of oil pumps at most parts of the State today.
The owners of oil pumps would be penalized if they were trying to hoard petroleum products for sale in the black market, Okendro added.
On the other hand, SDO of Kakching Th Charjit today conducted drives at the closed oil pumps at Kakching area to check their stock positions.
Some oil pumps which were found having enough stock of petrol and diesel were ordered to sell out the available petroleum oil to the public.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at his Secretariat this afternoon approved recruitment of 17 MCS, 20 MPS and two election officers through Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC).
The recruitment examination of MPSC would be based on the new revised pattern of UPSC's Civil Services Examination.
