Training programme on 'Scientific Beekeeping' launched at KVK Chandel

Chandel, July 17 2021:
A training programme on 'Scientific Beekeeping' under the National Bee-Keeping & Honey Mission sponsored by National Bee Board, was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel, ICAR Manipur Centre.
The training programme was inaugurated by SDC, Chandel, Mothel Saka.
It was also attended by Ts Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Department, Chandel and Dr A Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Mothel Saka elaborated on the economics of honey bees and honey for the upliftment of rural people.
Ts Gladney Monsang also spoke on how honeybee could enhance the source of income for the farmers along with increase in crop production.
The keynote address was given by Dr Kl Levish Chongloi, SMS (Agronomy).
She spoke on the objectives of Bee-keeping and Honey Mission, the role of bee-keeping in increasing food security, improving nutrition and its key ecosystem service for agriculture.
Resource person, Dr N Johnson Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur delivered a lecture on 'Identification and Scope of Bee-keeping, Identification of Bee Species and Honey and its value addition'.
The programme was attended by 65 farmers from different villages of the district and staff of KVK Chandel.
