Many mourn Ima Momon

Several civil society organisations have mourned the demise of Soibam (O) Momon Leima, who breathed her last at JNIMS, yesterday during a condolence meeting at Uripok Polem Leikai Community Hall, today.
During the meeting which was convened in accordance with the SOPs for COVID-19, the attendees offered floral tributes to the photo of Ima Momon and later observed silence for two minutes.
They also extended condolence to the bereaved family members.
Ima Momon, born to Sanasam Mohori and Nganbi Devi of Kongba Khunou on July 28, 1951, was a mother of 6.She completed her higher secondary education from Wangkhei Girls High School.
After her marriage to Soibam Samungou Meitei, Ima Momon took part in the anti drugs movement by joining the local meira paibi lup.
She joined All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup in 1993 .
She was among the 12 mothers who protested naked in front of the historic Kangla Fort against AFSPA, 1958 in July 2004.The CSOs that condoled her demise include Manipur State Commission for Women, AMKIL, Nupi Samaj, All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup, EECHAL, UMO, EEVFAM, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, NIMPAL, ANUL, Thoubal Ima, AMSU, UPF, NIPCO, MAPI Council, UCM, HRA, CADA, UPACO, Macha Leima, LEIMAKOL, Paona Bazar Women's Organisation, Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup, JDO, MEELAL, IMOM.
