CCPur police seizes illicit RAT kits

Churachandpur, July 17 2021:
Churachandpur district police seized four carton boxes of unauthorised Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits containing 4000 test kits from three persons on Friday.
According to police reports, a police team intercepted one ambulance (AS01 AR 0835) around 2 pm under suspicion of carrying unauthorised RAT kits in front of Churachandpur College.
On checking the vehicle and enquiring the two occupants identified as Okram Uday Singh alias Devson (26), son of (L) O Inao of Thoubal district and Sagolsem Umesh (38), son of S Manisana of Imphal West district, it was found that the consignment had already been unloaded at the house of one Thangmuonsang (35), son of Kampu of HQ Veng, Churachandpur.
The police then raided Thangmuonsang's house from which it recovered four carton boxes of RAT kits with each carton box containing 40 boxes with 25 test kits leading to a total of 4000 test kits.
On inspection, the kits were found to be standard quality Covid-19 Ag manufactured by SD Biosenser Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Haryana.
The individuals were not able to produce any documents or authorisation letter from Medical Directorate or any other authority.
As such, the boxes have been seized by the police under Section 102 of CrPC and the matter is being investigated.
Churachandpur Police have also intimated to the DC and CMO in this regard.
All the seized testing kits have been handed over to chief medical officer Dr VC Pau on Saturday evening for use as per the requirement, in the presence of DGP LM Khaute.
