Training on scientific beekeeping held in Chandel

Training on Scientific Beekeeping under the National BeeKeeping & Honey Mission sponsored by National Bee Board was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel, ICAR Manipur Centre on Saturday.
The training programme was inaugurated by Chandel SDC Mothel Saka as chief guest, KVK Chandel head Dr A Ameeta Devi as president and district agriculture officer Ts Gladney as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mothel Saka elaborated on the benefits of honey bee and honey for uplift of economy of the rural population while Gladney Monsang deliberated on how honeybee can enhance the source of income for farmers augment crop production.
Earlier, delivering the key-note, SMS (Agronomy) Dr Kl Levish Chongloi highlighted objectives of Bee-keeping and Honey Mission, the role of bee-keeping in increasing food security, improving nutrition and its key ecosystem service for agriculture.
As resource person, KVK Churachandpur SMS (Plant Protection) Dr N Johnson Singh spoke on the topic of Identification and Scope of Bee-keeping, Identification of Bee Species and Honey and its value addition.
The programme was attended by 65 farmers from different villages of the district and staff of KVK Chandel.
