MHRC seeks report on Nanao's death

Imphal, May 09 2022:
Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has sought report of investigation status from the authority concerned on the alleged custodial death of Arambam Nanao of Sagolband Kangabam Leikai.
The Commission served notice seeking status report based on a complaint filed by Civil Societies Coalition on Human Rights co-convener Joy Chingakham, EEVFAM president Renu Takhellambam and HRA executive director Babloo Loitongbam.
The complaint named the state government represented by chief secretary, DGP Manipur, SP Imphal West and OC of Imphal PS as the respondents.
In its directive, the Commission asked the respondents to submit copies of status report of the investigation, FIR and post mortem report by the next hearing, which has been fixed on May 13 .
