Cong MLA demands re-poll in Khundrakpam

Alleging electoral malpractices, Khundrakpam AC INC candidate MLA Th Lokeshwar has demanded re-polling at 1/12 Sarouthel and 1/16 Cosmopolitan primary school polling stations.
Speaking to the media his Sagolmang residence on Tuesday, Th Lokeshwar opined that due to failure of the presiding officer to timely transport the EVM used at polling station 1/12, BJP supporters stormed the polling station and vandalised the EVM machine.
While recounting that the RO dismissed possibility of re-poll in case vital data of the destroyed EVM is not found destroyed, the candidate reasoned that he would demand for re-poll if checking of EVM was done in the presence of media.
However, as no such arrangement was made he is urgingfor re-poll in the said polling station, Lokeshwar said and also demanded appropriate action against the presiding officer and the security personnel for alleged inaction when BJP workers destroyed the EVM.
Further stating that JNC supporters were not allowed to cast votes in another polling station (1/16), Lokeshwar said evidence of some people casting proxy votes could be authenticated from camera footage.
He also accused BJP workers to threatening Congress workers and appealed to all concerned to maintain peace in the constituency.
