Imphal, March 01 2022:
Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has claimed that the first phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election was driven by muscle and money power.
MSC/CPI in a press release maintained that the voters have witnessed that rampant use of money and muscle power and termed it really unfortunate.
The party maintained that those leaders who have acquired power through unfair means have turned the election into a 'Money Festival' thereby treating the voters as objects of business.
Expressing concern about what will be the future of the masses when such corrupt leaders come into power, MSC/CPI stated that these leaders will start treating the masses indifferently without taking up any developmental activities .
Further MSC/CPI alleged that in Andro, Heirok, Keirao, Kshetrigao and some assembly constituencies in the hills, the BJP candidates have resorted to guns and threats which is a matter of great concern.
In view of the above scenarios, the party stressed on the need to reform the election system with strict policies to ensure that elections are held in a free and fair manner.
