Imphal, March 01 2022:
The BJP candidate of Langthabal Assembly Constituency, Karam Shyam has stated that he will file a complaint at the Election Commission of India in regards to the undemocratic acts and poll-related violence in the constituency yesterday.
While addressing media persons during a press conference held at his residence at Chajing Karam today, he said that repeated appeals were made to the masses and the candidates to refrain from any sort of poll related violence.
He further alleged that a supporter of a candidate from his constituency who had contested election 11 times and had won it for seven times had beaten up his agent near Kakwa Sofa Leirak and also created a ruckus threatening to burn down the house of the said agent.

The said supporter is currently working at Manipur Legislative Assembly, he added.
K Shyam also alleged that the wife of the above rival candidate also kicked a lantern and pots kept for ritual purpose at his polling camp at Kakwa.
Explaining about the disruption in casting of votes at the polling station no.20/34 at Karam Makha Leikai from 11 am till 12.15 pm, he said that the EVM machine had some problems hence the Presiding Officer requested for a new EVM machine which caused the delay.
However the NPP candidate of the constituency, Karam Nabakishore and his supporters came to the polling station in the evening and resorted to altercation on the pretext that the casting of vote was carried on even after 4 pm, he added.
He continued that the timely intervention of the residents of Karam have prevented the happening of further untoward incidents which may harm the normal election process.
Stating that providing extra time to allow the voters to cast votes owing to the delay caused by the malfunctioning of the EVM machine is as per the election rules, K Shyam termed it really unfortunate that the NPP candidate who is ignorant of such process tried to capture the booths by taking advantage of the situation.
Lastly he lauded the people of Langthabal constituency who stood for a free and fair election despite the undemocratic and violent acts by some candidates.
