Imphal, March 01 2022:
The Session Judge Thoubal on Tuesday released the six accused in the murder of N Rohit of Heirok.
Rohit was shot dead by a group of armed assailants on December 22 last year.
The bail order was announced today after it was kept reserved a few days back.
The accused are - Thokchom Henrik @ Naobi Singh (29), s/o Th Ibosana Singh of Heirok Part I Mayai Leikai, Khundongbam Nicky @ Anju Singh (33), s/o Kh Raghuchandra Singh of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai, Laishram Biken Singh (23) s/o L Bimol Singh of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai, Thokchom Bishworjit @ Putro Singh (40), s/o Th Ibochouba Singh of Heirok Part II Thokchom Leikai, Ningthoujam Panan Singh (30), s/o N Muhindro Singh of Heirok Part III Tourangbam Leikai, Thokchom Sanathoi @ Lai Singh (34), s/o Th Dijen @ Lakpati Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai.
Counsels of the accused submitted that the FIR of the case was based on false and bogus reports and implicated the accused falsely.
On the other hand, the IO of the case submitted a common bail objection.
The IO submitted that the FIR was registered based on the report filed by the brother of the deceased who claimed that some 15/16 individuals led by the six accused barged into his house and beat his father and younger brother while accused Thokchom Putro Singh fired upon his father and younger brother.
The younger brother succumbed to injury.
The IO also claimed that the accused didn't not co-operate in the investigation.
Claiming that a high tension prevails at Heirok due to the killing of the college student and as such granting bail to the accused might create law and order problems in the area, the IO therefore prayed for bail rejection.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of both sides observed that the weapon used in the offence has not been recovered till date and there is no material to show that the accused are likely to hamper the investigation if released.
The Court then granted bail application of the six accused on the condition of executing a sum of Rs 1,00,000 each with one surety.
