Outreach Prog on SVEEP conducted in Senapati village

Field Outreach Bureau, Senapati under the Bureau of Outreach Communication (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting) organised an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on systematic voters' education and electoral participation (SVEEP) at TNK village, Senapati on Tuesday.
SDO/BDO Willong Senapati district Nongthombam Suran Singh, who spoke as resource person, explained that SVEEP is an initiative of ECI to promote voter awareness, encourage voter registration and improve voter turnout, adding that the ECI aims to increase where there is very low voter turnout, from below 40 per cent to at least to 75 per cent in the country.
He advised the participants to register themselves in the voters' list if they have attained the age of 18 years and above through block level officer (BLO) of their respective places.
The SDO/BDO also shared various platforms where government awareness on importance of voter registration is available.
Suran provided voter helpline number 1950 through which anybody can enquire about location of polling station, poll timing and others relating to election, adding that there are a number of facilities including cVIGIL app to raise a complaint on poll malpractices.
He advised the participants to exercise their franchise in free and fair manner and warned not to create any violence during election to avoid consequences according to the law.
Tusii Nganii khumai, Chairman TNK village Senapa,ti attended the programme as chief guest, secretary TNK village Senapati Th Wilson as guest of honour and Paulina Wanglar, deputy director Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, as special guest.
Programme was chaired by A Sankhil George, FPA, FOB Senapati, while a keynote address was delivered by Waribam Urmilla, FPO, FOB Senapati.
A magic show was also performed by Imphal Artiste Union as A Sankhil George proposed a vote of thanks.
A quiz competition relating to SVEEP was also held as part of the programme where A Puli, Everjoy, and Mado.venai won prizes.
The programme was attended by TNK villagers, village leaders, youth leaders, public and others.
