Imphal, October 13 2021:
Amid the call for free and fair election, supporters, of Keishamthong MLA Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar from Ward No 13 contributed money and extended financial assistance to the MLA for the forthcoming 12 state legislative assembly election.
The supporters of ward no.13 of Keishamthong AC pooled in the money and handed it over to the MLA on the sidelines of a booth level workers' meeting held at his Pishumthong residence on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, Jayantakumar said that reports of violent clashes between workers and supporters of rival candidates are coming in from different parts of the state and the situation has even come to using of firearms.
Expressing concern over the emerging trend, he appealed to his workers to avoid such confrontations and make the election a peaceful affair while adding that Keishamthong AC has sufficient number of educated people who can't be swayed by muscle and money power.
On the other hand, several candidates are seeing the voters as commodities and they think that they can buy their votes with some mere cash and the public need to show that they are wrong and their votes are not for sale, he said.
He then expressed confidence that NPP will win big in the 2022 elections.
He also assured of consultation with the public in order to bring about inclusive development in the constituency.
