CLK celebrates 29th foundation day

Chanura Lamchinglel KangJeipak (CLK) celebrated its 29th foundation day at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Art and Culture former director Dr K Sobita commended CLK for taking active role in major issues of the state and hoped that it will lead women of the state along the right path.
Maintaining that Manipuri women folks have been wearing decent dresses since time immemorial as a custom and it is this very essence that identifies Manipur, Dr K Sobita stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting culture and tradition of the state.
While expressing disappointment over the failure to implement the Manipur Cultural Policy, Dr Sobita pointed out the need for adopting resolution during the function in connection with the dress code of women for attending state functions and incorporation of the same in the cultural policy.
Delivering the presidential speech, CLK president Ch Pakpi recounted that it was formed to protect women from various atrocities committed to them and to address issues faced by women.
She further pledged to work for improving the socio-economic condition and uplift of status of women.
National and international awardee Ibotombi Khuman was also present during the function as guest of honour.
Functionaries of various organisations working together with CLK and media persons were also presented.gifts on the occasion.
