Bijli Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas celebrated

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, festival of light/ Bijli Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas was celebrated at Chandel, Kakching and Kangpokpi districts jointly organised by Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India in association with the Government of Manipur.
In Chandel, the celebration was held at Thamnapokpi village today.
It was attended by Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Deputy Commissioner Chandel; Premananda Laishram, General Manager NHPC; P Samungou, General Manager MSPDCL Zone III and Th Beshang, chief Thamnapokpi village as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Letkhomang Haokip, DGM Chandel said that the administration has successfully electrified villages in far flung border areas in Chandel district.
Mayanglambam Rajkumar said that in developing the economy, there needs to be a push in the agriculture sector, manufacturing sector and service sector.
And all these sectors require electricity to function, he added.
At Kakching, Phuritsabam Jeeten, Adhyaksha, Kakching ZP kicked off the celebration at Langmeidong Dramatic Union hall yesterday.
The event which was held under the theme "Ngallaba India, nganduna leiragadaba punshigi" was attended by Salam Somorjit, Deputy Commissioner Kakching and Ch Indrajit, ZP member as the presidium members.
During the event, Th Ibomcha, DGM MSPDCL Kakching spoke on the occasion and urged people to conserve electricity.
In Kangpokpi district, the celebration was conducted at Charhajare Community Hall, Saitu Gamphazol.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Haokholal Hangshing, Caretaker Chairman, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council spoke on the importance of electrification in hill districts.
DC, Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, highlighted the importance of electricity.
She opined that advancement and achievements in the power sector has been a boon for the people across the country and State, which paves a way for better life.
The event was also attended by H Satyanarayana, Group General Manager (NHPC); Balaram Bista, Social Worker; Sapam Bishwojit Singh, SDO Saitu Gamphazol Sub-Division; Thanglalsam, DGM, MSPDCL Kangpokpi and students among others.
Tengnoupal district also celebrated the 2nd Bijli Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas in Wabaching Village under the theme "Ujjawal Bharat, Ujjawal Bhawishya".
Mannuamching, DC Tengnoupal who attended the celebration as chief guest stressed on the importance of conserving electricity.
"In the future, every village and every household will be lighted either by solar or other sources of energy, it is our responsibility to conserve electricity and we should give up the habit of wasting it", she added.
She further appealed for everyone in the district to join the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign by hoisting the national flag in every household from August 13 to 15 .
Goulianmang, SP and DLOs of different departments and village heads also attended the celebration.
It is worth noting that the celebration is being held across the nation starting from July 25 to 30 including all districts of Manipur.
As part of the celebration, short films on universal household electrification, distribution system strengthening, capacity addition, one nation one grid , renewable energy, consumer rights and state achievements were also shown to the public.
