Judicious electricity use stressed at Bijli Mahotsav events

Tengnoupal district on Tuesday celebrated the 2nd Bijli Mahotsav, Ujjwal Diwas at Wabaching village.
DC (Tengnoupal) Mannuamching, who attended the event as chief guest, stressed on the importance of conserving electricity and informed that every household will be lit up either by solar or other source of energy in future.
In the meantime, she urged all to join the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign by hoisting the national flag at homes.
Apart from SP Goulianmang, who was present as guest of honour, DLOs of different departments, village heads and locals also attended the event.
In Kangpokpi district, the Bijli Mahotsav, Ujala Diwas was celebrated at Charhajare Community Hall, Saitu Gamphazol.
The event is being used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and central governments to highlight key achievements of the power sector in India and the vision of the country in this sector for 2047, when India completes 100 years of Independence.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Haokholal Hangshing, caretaker chairman Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, spoke on the importance of electrification in hill districts and asked the people not to waste electricity by turning lights on when not in use.
Deputy commissioner Kengoo Zuringla also highlighted the importance of electricity and how the power sector has brought advancement across the country.
She also urged all to use electricity judiciously.
During the function, major achievements in the power sector through short films and skit videos were shown and beneficiaries presented their testimonies.
The event was also attended by H Satyanarayana, group general manager NHPC; Balaram Bista, social worker; Sapam Bishwojit Singh, SDO Saitu Gamphazol Sub-Division; Thanglalsam, DGM MSPDCL Kangpokpi; and students among others.
Noney district too celebrated the Bijli Mahotsav, Ujjwal Diwas with D Adai, chairman Villages Council Longmai Area, Gailung Gangmei, chairman Longmai Bazar Board, Irengbam Ashachandra Singh, DGM MSPDCL Noney Division and Krishan Hand, group senior manager NHPC as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
The event was jointly organised by MSPDCL Noney Division and NHPC at Multipurpose Hall, Longmai Part -3, Noney district headquarters.
As a part of the programme, short films on universal household electrification, village electrification, distribution system strengthening, capacity addition, renewable energy and consumer rights were shown to the gathering.
Testimonials on electrification were also heard from the village headmen and others.
Speaking to media persons, DGM Ashachandra Singh informed that during the weeklong celebration of Bijli Mahotsav, Ujjwal Diwas, the achievements of both central and state governments on power sector would be made known to the consumers and also examine their grievances.
The week-long programme will conclude at Khoupum on July 29 .
In Chandel district, the Bijili Mahotsav, Ujala Diwas was celebrated at Thamnapokpi village.
The day's function was attended by DC Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Group GM NHPC Premananda Laishram, GM-III MSPDCL P Shamungou and Thamnapokpi chief Th Beshang.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Rajkumar pointed out that the development in the power sector today is the result of the conscious efforts of the people's leaders, scientists, etc., who have worked hard with a vision of providing electricity in every nook and corner of the country.
DGM Chandel Letkhomang Haokip informed that almost all the villages including those in the far-flung border area in Chandel district are all electrified through grid or by solar power.
As part of the programme, short films on universal household electrification, distribution system strengthening, capacity addition, one nation one grid, renewable energy, consumer rights and state's achievements were also shown to the public.
An interaction session of the consumers with the officials of MSPDCL was also held during the event.
