Kargil Vijay Diwas observed

Bishnupur District Administration today observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Conference Hall of DC Office, Bishnupur.
The gathering observed a two minute-long silence as a mark of respect for the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in the Kargil War.
Deputy Commissioner, Lourembam Bikram, ADC, H Bobby Sharma AC to DC, Ejaj Hassan, District Level Officials and staff of the District Administration attended the observance.
Addressing the gathering, Lourembam Bikram said Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War.
The supreme sacrifice made by the Indian soldiers is exemplary of valor and patriotism, he maintained.
He asserted that the employees should try to emulate the nationalism shown by the soldiers.
In a separate event, All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen (Def & CAPF) Association also observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at its headquarters in Vijaynagar, Kanglatongbi.
Other senior Gorkha veterans, advisors, members, widows, Veer Naaries and children attended the program and paid tribute to the Kargil War heroes.
Speaking on the occasion, GP Ramudhamu, president of AMGESA (Def & CAPF), said that five soldiers from Manipur were among the brave 527 soldiers who made supreme sacrifices for the nation during the Kargil War.
The gathering observed a two-minute silence and lighted candles in honour of the brave souls.
Mantripukhri Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (S) also observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with a motivational lecture for young NCC cadets at Company Operating Base Sawombung in Imphal East today.
The aim of the event was to instill a sense of nationalism and pride among the young generation and inform them about the gallant sacrifices of our Kargil War heroes, a statement from IGAR (S) has informed.
The event culminated with fruitful interaction between the troops and the young cadets over tea and refreshment.
