Training programme held

A one-day training programme on improved organic production practices and post harvest of king chilli for Sivathei Farmers Producer Company under the project 'MOVCDNER for Phase-II' was held at Chatric Khullen village community hall in Kamjong district today.
Dr Solei Luiram head of ICAR, Ukhrul who attended the programme as the resource person educated the farmers on the marketing scope and growing demands of organic foods.
He stressed on the need to apply for GI tag for the indigenous crop Sivathei (King Chilli) and its preservation.
Dr Solei also dwelt on use of biopesticides, biofertilizers, insect traps, and other applications to maintain soil fertility in order to enhance organic production without damaging the soil.
Meanwhile Awoyo Lungleng, Project Manager, DSSS elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of FPCs for promotion of organic products.
The state government will also provide grants and agricultural inputs on subsidy to farmers having share holders card and membership equity share right.
He also mentioned Aggregation Collection Centre (ACC) or processing unit in Chatric Village for the convenience of the rural farmers.
As a part of support to the farmers, 20 neemcake bags and biofertilizers, biopesticides were distributed to the local farmers.
The one day training programme was organised by Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) supported by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) .
