Social and cultural activist Ibunghal Shyamal from Bangladesh was accorded a warm welcome in Manipur today.
Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) organised an event at the hall of the academy to honour Ibunghal today Director of JNMDA, P Bilash, teacher of the academy, Thokchom Ibemubi, Section Officer, Chongtham Nabachandra and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem graced the occasion as presidium members.
While speaking at the occasion, Shyamal appealed to the Director of JNMDA to send teachers to teach Manipuri dance and music in Bangladesh.
Subsequently, Director of JNMDA, P Bilash assured that the Academy is planning to send some teachers to Bangladesh around November this year.
During the visit, special cultural shows will also be showcased by the artists of the Academy, he added.
Recounting the previous occasions where Indo-Bangla cultural festivals, film festivals have been conducted earlier, Rakesh Naorem stressed on the need of organising such events to promote cultural exchange in order to strengthen the bond between the two Nations.
Patriotics Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur too organised a reception ceremony of Ibunghal Shyamal.
The event was attended by president of PAWF Manipur, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, secretary Rakesh Naorem, former president Yaiskul Khwairakpam, senior member Ngathem Rabeichandra, life member RK Bhagat and Naorem Romila among others as presidium members.
Members of the forum presented a traditional Manipuri handloom shawl to Ibunghal Shyamal.
During the occasion, it was discussed in length on organising Ningol Chakkouba festival in Bangladesh in October this year and an international seminar on Manipuri language, literature and culture in Bangladesh.
Speaking at the occasion, cultural and social activist Ibunghal welcomed the decision of PAWF to organise Ningol Chakkouba festival in Bangladesh in continuation of the various welfare activities.
Organising such a festival will help in strengthening the bond of love and brotherhood between Manipur and Bangladesh, he added.
He also assured to extend best possible support from Bangladesh for such a cause.
