Tree plantation, cleanliness drives conducted

Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi battalions of IGAR (South) organised tree plantation drives with students of Lilong Haoreibi Darul Uloom in Thoubal district and locals near Company Operating Base, Sawombung in Imphal East district on Friday.
The plantation drives were organised with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of healthy green environment and soil conservation, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release.
During the event an informative lecture was also delivered on "Importance of tree plantation and its benefits".
A total of 65 individuals attended the event, distributed and planted 2200 saplings of multiple varieties.
Noney Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised a 'cleanliness drive' at Charoi Chakotlong Part-II village on Wednesday.
According to an AR statement, the drive was organised by Company Operating Base (COB) Tupul to generate awareness about personal and public hygiene.
As a part of the drive, the COP troops along with villagers cleaned the surroundings which motivated the local populace to keep their surroundings clean and litter free.
The main focus of the drive was to educate the locals to stop the use of plastics and random disposal of solid and liquid waste in surrounding areas and also to use bins for proper waste management.
A total of 15 troops and 40 civilians attended the event.
The team of COB also conducted an interactive session with young students and villagers motivating youth to join the forces and also guided about other career options.
Information's on the upcoming Assam Rifles recruitment rallies were also provided to the attendees during the programme.
Mantripukhri Battalion also organised tree plantation drive at Sawombung on Thursday to make people aware about the importance of trees in our life and to save the endangered environment which is the most valuable gift of nature, informed PRO IGAR (S) in another release, adding that a total of 20 individuals attended the event and planted 80 saplings of multiple varieties including fruit and flower saplings.
