Protest against liquor policy continues

Imphal, April 29 2023:
In continuation of the protest against the government's decision to legalise liquor in the state, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA), All Manipur Women's Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Naorem Chakprou Makha Leikai Yaipha Lamjing Marup jointly organised a sit-in protest at Naorem Chakprou Makha Leikai in Imphal West district on Saturday around 2 pm.
During the sit-in, the protestors shouted slogans and held placards inscribed with words such as "What is hygienic liquor?" "No to sale and brewing of liquor", "Is legalised liquor safe for consumption? Will it prevent crime?", "Will legalisation truly help put an end to alcoholism when prohibition failed to do so?", "Is revenue earned from liquor more important than human life? Does the government have no other means of earning revenue other than from liquor?", "Is legalisation the right step amid the War on Drugs campaign?", "Is it right to okay consumption of liquor when use of drugs is banned?", "No legalisation of liquor in Manipur", "Withdraw cabinet's decision", and "Save the people of Manipur from liquor", a release by CADA Information & Publicity secretary L Brojen Angomcha informed.
