MKB promotes sports, integration, peace: NSU VC

National Sports University (NSU) Vice Chancellor RC Mishra has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat (MKB) not only motivates the people of the North East and Jammu & Kashmir to take up sports but also promotes National integration and peace in the two regions.
Speaking to media persons at his Khuman Lampak Sports Complex office today, RC Mishra said that four faculty members of NSU carried out a research work on the impacts of MKB on sports.
The VC also released a research paper titled "Impact of Mann Ki Baat on National Integration and Peace through Sports in the North East States and Jammu & Kashmir" .
He said that the research paper was jointly written by NSU Dean (Academics) Prof (Dr) Usha S Nair, Assistant Prof Dr Keren Susan Cherian, Assistant Prof Dr Kuldeep Singh and Assistant Prof Dr Arijit Chakraborty.
In the course of the research work, they interacted with around 26,000 people of North East States and J&K through survey and questionnaires.
Majority of the participants of the survey were school and university students.
Nonetheless, the researchers also collected inputs from players, coaches and teachers, RC Mishra said.
Majority of the participants said that the MKB motivates the youth to take up ad excel in sports apart from promoting National integration and peace, the VC conveyed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on sports and games as highlighted in the 80th episode of MKB made a strong impact on the masses regarding sportsmanship, he said.
The Prime Minister was quite successfully in motivating prospective athletes, particularly women and Divyangs (differently abled persons) through the 76th episode of MKB, he remarked.
Notably, the term Divyang was coined by Narendra Modi.
The NSU VC maintained that the MKB has succeeded in launching a strong sports movement among the people, particularly youth, of North East and J&K in addition to promoting National integration and peace.
