Imphal, April 29 2023:
Taking serious note of the law and order situation in Chura-chandpur district, RD7PR Minister Yumnam Khem- chand has appealed to all the people of Manipur to not impose bandh or blockade for any grievances 'as problems or misunderstandings, if any, can be solved through nego-tiations' .
Y Khemchand further said that a section of people vandalising a venue of a planned function at Chura-chandpur which was suppos- ed to be attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh was unfortunate.
Y Khemchand attended the closing ceremony of the 35th General Tournament organised by Eastern Lamkang Naga Sporting Association (ELNSA) and inaugurated a community hall of Riindamkhuw village today.
At the function, Y Khemchand continued that it was the BJP Government under the leadership of N Biren Singh which brought peace in the State.
He asserted that a group of people torching an open gym and causing disturbance to the people by imposing bandh in Chura-chandpur was uncalled for.
Asking if there is any problem in holding a dialogue to sort out differences, Y Khemchand urged the people to discard the habit of imposing bandh or blockade for all problems even before listening to the opinion of others.
Even if the aggrieved party doesn't want to talk with the Chief Minister they can always approach the other Cabinet Ministers and air their grievances, the MAHUD Minister advised.
Stating that Manipur can prosper when there is understanding among the different communities residing in the State, Y Khemchand said that there will be no development if there is no peace.
Continuing that Manipur is like a mini India which is home to 34 communities, he said that Tengnoupal similarly is like mini Manipur.
Development will surely come if all 60 MLAs fulfil their responsibilities, he added.
Saying that it was not only Meitei soldiers who fought against the British in the Anglo-Manipur War but many from the hill districts also sacrificed their lives, he appealed to all concerned to use the term Manipuri soldiers instead of Meetei soldiers while staging a drama on Khongjom Lan.
MLA SS Olish, DC Chandel M Rajkumar and Director of MOBC Ng Bhogendra also attended the programme.
Y Khemchand inspected the 3 Kms road stretch of Thoubal Khunou.
The Minister assured to resume the maintenance work of the road from tomorrow.
