AR aids centre, holds anti-drug/mopping up drive

Imphal, April 28 2023:
Somsai Battalion of IGAR (South) constructed pathway and levelled the compound of Sakhi-One Stop Centre situated within the premises of Ukhrul District Hospital on Thursday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that Sakhi-One Stop Centre provides services to women in distress and rehabilitation for women victims of violence in Ukhrul district.
As the office complex was devoid of a proper pathway and the ground was uneven, the Centre's administrator approached Somsai Battalion for assistance, the PRO said, adding that an excavator was provided for construction of the pathway and levelling of ground free of cost.
The work was executed in a single day.
Meanwhile, Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles organised a lecture on anti-drug abuse under 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)' at Talui village in Ukhrul district on April 24.According to an AR statement, dangerous effects of drug use were brought out during the interaction with youth and village authorities.
A pledge was also taken by the villagers to stay away from use of any form of drug.
Villagers were motivated to hght against drug abuse and get involved in nation building activities.
On the other-hand, Joupi Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted mopping up camp under de-worm-ing campaign at Primary School, Saibol-Joupi (near Indo-Myanmar Border) in Chandel district On Friday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a total of 70 students (32 boys and 38 girls) of Primary School, Saibol-Joupi were provided with de-worming medicines during the camp.
Students were guided about the causes and effects on health caused by worms and also briefed about life style diseases and choices of food for good health.
